Tax Breaks OK’d For Wedding Venue Expansion

A Cherry Creek wedding venue is expanding.

During a recent meeting of the Chautauqua County Industrial Development Agency, the board of directors approved tax agreements with The Barn at Farrington Hollow so it can construct a new 4,000 square foot barn and a 2,500 square foot pavilion for weddings. Officials said right now the venue holds weddings in a large pop-up tent but the owners wanted something more permanent.

IDA officials said Maesteg LLC owns The Barn at Farrington Hollow, The Cabins at Farrington Hollow, and the Farrington Hollow Farm and Market. The Barn provides an outdoor venue for weddings and other events. They have already gone ahead and started constructing the two new buildings. The goal is for them to be able to hold more events in fall and winter.

The buildings are being constructed at 7495 Farrington Hollow Road in the town of Cherry Creek. The total cost is $589,000. The project is expected to create nine full-time jobs in three years.

County IDA Board Chairman Michael Metzger noted the owners are quite involved. “This is a hands-on family. They are working all the properties. It’s great to see,” he said. They also have goats and chickens as well as other farm animals on the property.

Richard Dixon, chief financial officer, said the Farrington Hollow businesses bring many out-of-state visitors including people from Ohio and New Jersey. “It’s just a fabulous project. They bring a lot of people to the community. … They were excited that we can help them make this a reality,” he said.

The board unanimously approved a 15-year Payment In Lieu Of Taxes agreement on property and sales taxes.
