South 62, a local band out of Frewsburg, has had hits on the Nashville Country Music Chart and is now able to be streamed worldwide.
The band is made up of founding members Jeff Lewis, Anthony Brown, and Rich Alcorn, along with Darrin Payne, Tom Hodges and Brad Kendzoir. Lewis, Brown and Alcorn started the band in 2010 and added other members in 2018 when the band started hitting it big.
“2018 was when we really kicked it into high gear,” Lewis said. “We got asked to be on the Mike Huckabee show and we had to use some of his drummers and other musicians so that’s when we decided that it was important that if we were going to hit it big we had to get more people.
“We were invited onto a few other shows since, and to the Fourth of July celebration in Houston, Texas, but we didn’t really become a full fledged band until after Huckabee.”
Since then, South 62 has had multiple hits on the Nashville Country Music Charts and is now available for streaming worldwide. Hits include the band’s debut single “Talk of the Town” that reached No. 52 on the charts; “I’m Still Here” that hit No. 62; and recently “Love is Forgiveness” that currently sits at 101.
“It’s crazy,” Lewis said.
He added that for him, his favorite song is “Eagle’s Wings,” which also happens to be their best streaming song. The band also has a new album that they are working on.
“We have a ton of new songs that we are excited to be able to share very soon,” Lewis said.
South 62 has a YouTube channel and is able to be followed and streamed on Spotify. They can also be found on all social media channels.
When it comes to being in a band, Lewis said the most important thing is to make sure to have fun.
“It’s got to be fun,” Lewis said. “That’s what it’s all about. No matter what, you’ve got to be having fun. I’ve been at this a long time now, and I’ve learned over the years that if you’re not having fun, you won’t be at it very long.”
