FINDLEY LAKE -- Smiles, snow cones and slip and slides -- all provided by Our Own Candle Company -- as Kids Day returns to Findley Lake on July 30 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.
"It's been two years since we've done it," said Larry Gross, co-founder of Our Own Candle Company. "Everybody's really excited about its return."
Kids Day this year has a wide array of activities for families to enjoy, Gross said. There will be bounce houses, of course, as well as games and crafts.
"There will be some different games and crafts and a few new bounce houses," he said.
Aubrey Balzer of North East will provide a petting zoo and pony rides for the kids.
On the food side, there will be hot dogs, popcorn, root beer, water and snow cones.
But what really makes Kids Day special in Findley Lake is that everything is free.
"The best thing about Kids Day is giving something back to families. It's free and fun," Gross said. "It also shows off our town."
Even though it was the COVID pandemic that made Kids Day an impossibility for two years, there are no restrictions this year.
"Everything is as normal as normal could be at this point," Gross said.
Kids Day, which began in 2013, has grown throughout the years. Not only does Our Own Candle Company sponsor the event, but they provide the personnel, as well. "Every employee from OOCC will be there," Gross said.
The only difficulty with Kids Day is parking space.
"There's not much we can do about the problem, but people always find a way," Gross said. "The OOCC warehouse parking lot will be open."
Each year people have expressed their gratitude to Terry and Larry Gross, founders of OOCC and the driving force behind Kids Day. The event is held in the main OOCC parking lot.
