FREWSBURG — Bash in the Burg Country Music Festival is set to return this year.
The event was held for the first time last year, organized by the Frewsburg Fire Department and local band South 62. This year, the festival kicks off beginning at 3 p.m. Saturday and goes to Sunday. It will be held at 25 Hazzard St. in Frewsburg, and tickets are $35 beforehand or $45 at the gate on the day of the events. Tickets can be purchased before at eventbrite.com.
Jeff Lewis of South 62 is one of the organizers of the music part of the event.
“I grew up in Frewsburg,” Lewis said. “I always wanted to be able to make something like this happen here. And now that our band is doing so well, we’re able to make it happen by getting more people from Nashville to come and perform.”
The music lineup this year includes Grammy nominee and founding member of the group, Trick Pony, Keith Burns, Nashville recording artists Clayton Smalley and Timothy Baker, a special guest and legend from Nashville, John Griffin, along with local favorites South 62, Smokin’ 45, Bucked Up, Night Shift, and Akoostikly Challenged.
“We will have the best of our local bands,” Lewis said. “The fire department is doing a fundraiser with the event, that’s where all the money goes to, but I do know there will also be craft vendors all day and food. The gates open at 3 and the music starts at 4, with a new band every hour.”
Campsites and popup camping is also available this year.
Lewis said last year’s show was more of an acoustic show while this year promises to be more upbeat.
“There were also no vendors last year, but the firemen are handling that part,” Lewis said. “This is the largest country music festival in Western New York.”
Additionally, Lewis said there are not too many events like this in the local area and anyone who likes music should be interested in coming.
“It’s pretty cheap too, considering you will be paying $35 for Nashville quality entertainment,” he said. “The event is open for children as well, so families can come and hear music together.”
He added, “Bring your lawn chairs, come hang out and just enjoy the day.”
