Chautauqua Big Band To Perform In Cherry Creek

CHERRY CREEK — The Cherry Creek Summer Gazebo Concert Series continues Tuesday at 6:30 p.m. with the music of Chautauqua Big Band.

The concert will be held, rain or shine, in the pavilion in the Ballpark on Main Street in the hamlet.

Chautauqua Big Band is composed largely of instrumental music educators from throughout the Chautauqua Region, who excel in the “Big Band” music of the 1940 era: the sounds of Glenn Miller, Tommy Dorsey, and the like. A favorite group of those who frequent the summer concert series, Chautauqua Big Band has been featured in the concert schedule since its inception.

“It’s big band music at its best,” said Brenda Hendricks of the Cherry Creek Community Association. “You’ll be tapping your feet for sure, and there’s lots of room to dance.”

In keeping with this season’s theme, “Family Night Out,” supper-type refreshments will be available, and those planning to attend are encouraged to bring their own comfortable lawn chairs, although there are picnic tables and benches in the pavilion.

The project is sponsored by the Cherry Creek Community Association Inc. and made possible in part with funds from the Statewide Community Regrant program, a regrant program of the New York State Council on the Arts with the support of the office of the governor and the New York State Legislature and administered by Arts Services Inc.

The program is also supported by area businesses, the town of Cherry Creek and community members.
