Cherry Creek To Hold Family Day

CHERRY CREEK — Veterans of all branches of the nation’s military will be celebrated today in Cherry Creek, as families will come together with games, crafts, food, baseball games, corn hole and music beginning at 10 a.m. and concluding at 5 p.m.

Tours of the Cherry Creek Cemetery will be offered from 10 a.m. to noon. There will be tour booklets available.

The cemetery is located on West Road in the hamlet. Parking will be available on the west side of the cemetery, with transportation to the cemetery to the parking area by Kevin O’Brien.

Cherry Creek has many notable people in its history, so a tour of the cemetery is sure to be interesting.

Tours of the Cherry Creek Museum will be offered in conjunction with the cemetery tour. The museum is located on Main Street, and has many items on exhibit honoring the patriotic heritage of the hometown in the north county.

Baseball games between boys and girls ages 10 to 12, with teams from South Dayton and Cherry Creek, will play in the ballpark on Main Street from noon to 3 p.m. There will also be corn hole set up for people to play and enjoy.

The events of the day close out with music by Paul Zittel and Pure Country from 3 to 5 p.m. Popular with fans of all ages, the group entertains widely throughout Western New York in the Music in the Park concert series.

The Pine Valley VFW Auxiliary Post 2522 will have food available; food from TNT Refreshments will also be available.

Brenda Hendricks, one of the event’s organizers invites the public to “Come out and celebrate the Red, White and Blue with us as we honor our country and our veterans. Enjoy some games, some local history, food, music and crafts in the hometown tradition. We hope to see you here.”
