A building materials supply company has closed its longtime Kennedy area location.

84 Lumber customers, in a sign hung up outside the Route 394 property, are being directed to the company’s Chaffee site at 12520 Olean Road, about an hour’s drive from Kennedy and now the closet to Chautauqua County.

A shared message from 84 Lumber confirmed the local store has been “permanently closed.”

It’s not exactly clear when 84 Lumber opened its Kennedy area location. Newspaper clippings mention the site dating back to at least 1983.

The company did not respond to an email inquiry earlier Tuesday regarding the closure.
