Hillbillies Win Rivalry Game Against Dunkirk, 5-1

FREDONIA — The Fredonia Hillbillies topped their rival Dunkirk Marauders 5-1 in Chautauqua-Cattaraugus Athletic Association West Division girls soccer action on Friday in Fredonia.

The Hillbillies had three different goalscorers in the first half, Ella Koopman, Annie Gondek and Emily Timmerman. In the second half Sophia Gullo scored twice to lengthen the lead. Kyleigh Waterman finished with eight saves.

Dunkirk’s lone goal was scored by Angelina Piede.

Fredonia’s win improved its overall record to 11-0-0 and division record to 8-0-0. Dunkirk is now 2-5-0 overall and 0-5-0 in the division.

GATORS BLANK TROJANS

ALLEGANY — Allegany-Limestone blanked Southwestern 4-0 in West Division action.

The Gators were led by two goals from Olivia Paterniti, a goal from Payton Fortuna and a goal from Janie Missel. Kelsey Riordan made five saves in the shutout.

Allegany-Limestone improved its record to 7-3-0 overall and 7-1-0 in league while Southwestern is now 2-6-1 overall and 2-5-1 in league.

PANTHERS TIE

SOUTH DAYTON — Pine Valley/Gowanda and Cattaraugus-Little Valley tied 0-0 in East Division action.

The Timberwolves keeper Onalee Osgood made nine saves against the Panthers offense to keep the game scoreless.

With the tie Pine Valley/Gowanda is now 1-7-2 overall and 1-5-1 in the league while Cattaraugus-Little Valley is now 3-7-2 overall and 3-5-1 in league.

EAGLES WIN BIG

ELLICOTTVILLE — Ellicottville shut out Franklinville 8-0 in East Division play.

The Eagles were led by a hat trick from Brook Butler, two goals by Jocelyn Wyatt, and one goal each from Mandy Hurlburt, Emilee Ruiz and Alysa Williams. Butler and Hurlburt both had two assists.

Ellicottville is now 8-2-0 overall and 7-1-0 in league while Franklinville is 3-9-0 overall and 3-6-0 in league.

EDEN TOPS NORTH COLLINS

NORTH COLLINS — Eden topped North Collins in a nonleague game 2-1.

Eden was powered by goals from Maggie Zittel and Brynn Hall. Haley Pompeo recorded 12 saves in the victory.

The loss drops North Collins to 6-5-1 overall and Eden improves to 6-6-1 overall.
