Unfortunately, Gaylene’s jewelry store along Fluvanna Avenue is closed following a vehicle crashed through the store’s front door on Aug. 7.

Gaylene Lindell said the store was opened at the time of the accident, but no one was in the front part of the store when it occurred, so no one was injured and the driver was fine too.

“I don’t know what happened, but the vehicle and the driver came through the front door,” she said. “The store was open and fortunately a customer had just left three minutes prior. I was back in my office. Thankfully, the driver was OK. I’m very grateful no one was hurt.”

Lindell said the damage to her store is quite extensive and she will need to be closed temporarily while her insurance company handles the hiring of a general contractor to fix the building’s entrance.

“I’ll reopen, I just don’t know when,” she said. “I have customers who are having jewelry repaired and I can’t do any business until I reopen. (The jewelry) is safe and secure. My alarm system and safe are working fine.”

Lindell said she has been in business at 3045 Fluvanna Ave., Jamestown, since 1994. She said nothing like a vehicle crashing through the store’s entrance has ever happened before. She added the store did have to close down for a short time period in June 2019 because of a flood and during the start of the COVID-19 pandemic.
