Welcome Summer Solstice Bonfire To Be Held At Audubon

For many, summer is a busy time of year as they take advantage of the limited number of warm weekends.

The public is invited to slow down and celebrate the summer solstice at Audubon Community Nature Center on Sunday, June 20, between 7:30 and 9:30 p.m.

Those attending can stay for as long as they like to relax in nature with friends, family, reflections and a bonfire. There will also be a reflective sunset hike on the trails.

The summer solstice and the surrounding days have been celebrated in a multitude of countries and cultures for hundreds of years. Around the world today, bonfires are still lit in celebration, often accompanied by festivals with food, friends and music.

Audubon will have a bonfire blazing at the Urban Pavilion on the west side of the property.

Plan to walk a quarter mile to the bonfire and dress for the weather.

Have a face covering available, as they are required for outdoor programs during which participants cannot maintain six feet of distance between family groups.

The fee is $8 for adults, $6 for Nature Center members, $2 for children 3-15, free for 2 and under. Walk-ins are welcome, but reservations are appreciated by calling 569-2345 or clicking through “Register for a Program” at AudubonCNC.org.

The Audubon Community Nature Center is located at 1600 Riverside Road, one-quarter mile east of Route 62 between Jamestown and Warren.
