A Jamestown man facing charges for several incidents taking place over the weekend is no stranger to city jail. According to the Jamestown Police Department, 42-year-old Patrick J. Blakemore has already been arrested 11 times this year, nine alone in April.

The department said the string of arrests are the result of the state’s bail reform law, which releases those charged with non-violent crimes as they await further court proceedings.

Officers were called around 7:30 p.m. on Friday to CVS, 19 S. Main St., for reports of a disorderly person. Police identified 42-year-old Patrick J. Blakemore as the person causing the disturbance inside the store, and advised him he would be taken into custody if he did not leave the store.

Less than 10 minutes later, JPD said in a news release, Blakemore again entered the store and caused a disturbance. The city man then attempted to leave while officers were investigating.

Blakemore briefly struggled with officers before being taken into custody. He was processed on charges of trespassing, second-degree obstructing governmental administration and resisting arrest and then released.

Around 6 p.m. Saturday, officers were summoned to 7-Eleven on North Main Street for a shoplifting complaint. The investigation was the sixth call for service since 3 p.m. that day involving Blakemore, though the department did not specify what occurred during the other calls.

While JPD may be blaming the state’s bail reform laws for the latest string of arrests involving Blakemore, the city man has faced numerous charges for a variety of incidents in past years. In August 2014, Blakemore entered the former U.S. News store at 111 W. Third St. by kicking the glass out of the front door. He then entered and removed several items without paying, JPD said at the time.

Months earlier, he faced trespassing and harassment charges after he reportedly forced his way into a city residence and punched an individual in the face.

Even earlier, in August 2010, Blakemore was charged with petit larceny after reportedly shoplifting from the Rite Aid on South Main Street.

And in March 2019, Blakemore was charged with second-degree criminal trespassing and an investigation found that he had entered a woman’s home through an unlocked door while she was home. Blakemore was later located and taken into custody.

Online court records indicate Blakemore is facing a host of charges for incidents dating back to the first of the year.
