Charges are pending following Saturday’s two-vehicle rollover crash on Route 60 that resulted in four people being transported to the hospital.

The crash occurred around 3 p.m. between Lakeview Avenue and Eagle Road near Fredonia.

According to the New York State Police, a northbound 2014 Subaru Forrester turned into the path of a southbound 2014 Jeep Patriot. The driver of the Subaru, identified by the state police as Nicholas D. Verleni, was attempting to turn around in the parking lot of Krick’s on Route 60.

Verleni told troopers he misjudged how far away the approaching Jeep was before the crash. The impact caused the Jeep to overturn and land in a nearby ditch on its roof.

The driver of the Jeep was transported by ambulance to Erie County Medical Center in Buffalo. A passenger was transported to Brooks Memorial Hospital while two others were taken by helicopter to nearby hospitals.

Responding agencies included the state police, Fredonia police, Fredonia Fire Department, Cassadaga Fire Department and Dunkirk Fire Department.

Route 60 was closed to traffic for about an hour.
