Fredonia Man Announces Run For County Clerk

David Salley, Fredonia resident and political newcomer, is running for Chautauqua County Clerk.

Salley is a computer science professional who has the skill and experience to work with current county employees to meet customer demands at the Department of Motor Vehicles in three county communities, direct efficiencies at the County Courthouse and work with the Sealer of Weights and Measures staffs.

“It’s all about the employees we have working now and me providing full time support and leadership so they each can best deliver the best services possible,” Salley said.

Salley has done a wide variety of programming applications in a number of languages over his career, starting with Y2K programming for Plantrol Systems of Westfield and, most recently, database report writing for the Seneca Nation Medical Center.

The candidate is a 30-year experienced amateur historian, with membership in the Society for Creative Anachronism. He said he looks forward to working with County Historian Michele Henry, if elected.

Salley was born and raised in Buffalo in a Polish Catholic family and is a lifelong Western New Yorker. Since 2000, he and his wife, Dr. Karen Ehrlich, have owned and maintained a 150-year-old Victorian era home in Fredonia. The couple has been married for 30 years.

As a teen, Salley stocked grocery store shelves after high school classes and worked his way through college at a second shift factory job. The first in his family to graduate from college, Salley holds an associate’s degree in computer programming from Bryant & Stratton, a bachelor of science degree in computer science from Canisius College, and was a non-traditional student earning a Master of Arts degree in Informatics from The University of Buffalo. The field would later be known as Information Technology. Salley is an Eagle Scout from Buffalo’s Troop 22, earning nearly twice the merit badges required to be an Eagle Scout.

Salley is endorsed by the Democratic and Working Families parties. For more information, visit www.salleyforclerk.com.
