The city of Jamestown will host a COVID-safe “Easter Egg celebration” at Allen Park beginning at 10 a.m. Saturday.

The event will include appearances from the Easter Bunny and the Tarp Skunk’s mascot, Whiffy. Volunteers will be masked and gloved and will hand out candy to families in their vehicles.

The city Parks Department asks that participants enter through Allendale, Fairdale and Springdale avenues off Martin Road. Traffic will be let out either through West Virginia Boulevard or Hughes Street. The event will be free of charge to the public.

“We are extremely excited to be able to hold a COVID-safe version of our traditional Easter Egg Hunt this year,” said Dan Stone, city parks manager. “It has been a difficult year, and we are happy that we are able to do this for the kids of Jamestown.”

The event is being sponsored by all five of the city’s unions: JCAA/JURA, CSEA, AFSCME Local 418, JPFFA Local 137, Morton Club Beneficiary Association, JPD Kendall Club PBA, city employees as well as by all three of the Jamestown Board of Public Utilities unions: IBEW Locals 106 and 459 and Teamsters Local 264.

Also sponsoring the event are Chautauqua Signs, the NECA Labor Management Committee, the city of Jamestown and the Jamestown BPU.
