The cause of a fire Sunday night in the city of Jamestown has still yet to be determined and continues to be under investigation, officials with the Jamestown Fire Department said.

Battalion Chief Cris Dahlgren told The Post-Journal that 168.5 Chandler St., the scene of the blaze, was vacant at the time of the fire that appeared to have originated on the second floor and attic of the structure. Two exposed houses in the vicinity of the structure were evacuated with the assistance of the Jamestown Police Department.

Two fire engines with ladders and a command car with 10 men arrived at the scene shortly after 4 p.m. to respond to heavy fire venting from a second floor window into the attack. Dahlgren said that crews entered the structure to search for any occupants and began overhauling an opening in the ceiling to address flames that had appeared in the attic.

Crews arrived back at the station just before 8 p.m.

No injuries were reported.
