Chautauqua Lake Names Students Of The Month

Students of the Month at Chautauqua Lake Central School, honored for September achievements, are Nathan Engdahl, Amber Eichelberger, Jonah Reyda, Emma Tolbert, Grayson Shaffer and Lily Otto. The student recognition program honors students in grades 7 through 12 whose classroom performance, attitude toward learning, work ethic and extra-curricular activities set them apart. Senior Nate Engdahl is the son of Jolene Engdahl of Mayville. An avid athlete, Nate has competed on the school baseball and basketball teams since seventh grade; he played football through his sophomore year before switching to soccer for his junior and senior years. He is also an active member of the National Honor Society. He has consistently been on the High Honor Roll since seventh grade, has previously earned Student of the Month and earned the Clarkson University High School Achievement Award as a junior. Nate plans on attending SUNY Fredonia to major in Biology and then eventually become a Physician’s Assistant. Amber Eichelberger, a junior, resides with Mark and Susan Eichelberger of Mayville. Throughout her time at CLCS, Amber has competed on the track team, participated in the art club, and this year, joined the tennis team. Amber’s future plans include graduating from high school, attending college, and becoming a veterinary technician. Sophomore Jonah Reyda is the son of Joseph and Tara Reyda of Mayville. Jonah has competed on the High School Academic Bowl team since seventh grade. He has consistently been on the honor roll and has earned Student of the Month in previous years. After high school, Jonah plans to go to college to become a history professor. Emma Tolbert, a freshman, is the daughter of Belynda and James Tolbert of Ripley. Emma has competed on the school basketball, softball, and soccer teams since seventh grade, earning the role of captain of the soccer team this year. She has been on the high honor roll and previously earned Student of the Month. Future plans include attending college. Eighth grader Grayson Shaffer is the daughter of Marya Johnson and Brian Stahlsmith of Mayville, NY and Matt Shaffer of Erie, Pennsylvania. Grayson competed on the swim team in seventh grade. Grayson’s future plans include attending UCLA to become a general surgeon. Lily Otto, a seventh grader, is the daughter of Steve and Jill Otto of Ripley. Lily’s love of music is shown in her participation in band, chorus, and in five musicals from grades 4-6. Her future goals include going to culinary school. Teacher Tara Reyda coordinates the secondary school Student of the Month recognition program with the help of a selection committee, which includes teachers Michelle Rowe and Joyce Walzer.
