County Reports 9 New COVID-19 Cases

The Chautauqua County Department of Health reported nine new cases of COVID-19 on Wednesday. The new cases include five who reside in the Dunkirk zip code, two in Fredonia, one in Jamestown and one in Lakewood.

There remains 53 active cases for those who continue to recover under orders from local health officials.

The county Health Department said 280 people remain under quarantine/isolation. Not all of those being monitored are confirmed to have COVID-19 but have either shown symptoms, are awaiting results or have risk factors.

There are also 23 people under domestic traveler quarantine as well as three people with COVID-19 hospitalized as of Monday, 644 total recoveries, 13 deaths, 710 total confirmed cases and 48,196 negative test results.

Elsewhere, the Cattaraugus County Department of Health on Wednesday reported its 10th COVID-19-related death, a 97-year-old man who reportedly developed respiratory failure.

“We extend our deepest condolences to his family and the entire Cattaraugus County community,” the department said.

In Cattaraugus County, there remains 42 active cases as well as 270 total confirmed cases, 218 recoveries, 58 in precautionary quarantine, 248 in mandatory quarantine and 33,231 negative test results.
