7 New COVID-19 Cases Reported In County

Seven new cases of COVID-19 were reported Friday by the Chautauqua County Department of Health. Those new cases include: four from Jamestown, one from Lakewood, Dunkirk and Sinclairville.

The county also announced 123 active cases.

There are currently 11 active cases among employees of and 56 active cases among residents associated with Tanglewood Manor with no one associated with the outbreak having recovered.

To date there have been 702 recovered cases; 13 deaths; and 838 total confirmed cases.

Meanwhile, the Jamestown Public Schools District on Friday said it has been notified by the county Health Department that a student at Fletcher Elementary School tested positive for COVID-19.

The district, in a message sent out to parents and posted to its website, said the student was last at school Thursday, Oct. 8.

“We have been notified by the Health Department that no in-school contact tracing will be required,” the district said. “Please note the student was remote learning at the time of contact with a positive case from outside of school.”

Added Superintendent Dr. Kevin Whitaker: “We want to remind our families, students and staff to keep our students and staff safe by wearing face masks, maintaining social distancing and continuing frequent hand washing whether at school or in the community. As a parent, if you see your child exhibiting any COVID-19 symptoms, please keep your child home and contact his or her health provider for a diagnosis. We appreciate our community’s”
