A bridge rehabilitation project along Route 394 is well underway in the town of Poland.

According to Susan S. Surdej of the New York State Department of Transportation, abutment and pier work have been completed on the bridge that spans the Western NY & PA Railroad and Lake Erie Railroad as well as Conewango Creek. She said the bridge deck was scheduled to be poured Wednesday and Thursday of this week.

A portion of Route 394 has been closed to vehicle traffic for the rehabilitation project. Motorists have been directed to follow a posted detour along Route 62, Interstate 86 and Schoolhouse Road. Pedestrians and bicycles will be directed to follow a detour along Route 62, Grubb Hill, Cook and County Line roads.

Surdej said remaining work on the bridge includes installing approach slabs, curbing, bridge joints, bridge rail guide rail and signs.

The project is scheduled to be completed by the end of the year.
