Lakewood residents Greg Carr and Cindy Watson have organized a “Boatin and Votin Trump 2020” parade, which will be held at 2 p.m. on Sunday, Aug. 9.

The boat parade is scheduled to begin in the south end of Chautauqua Lake near the Lakewood Rod & Gun Club, offering boaters a chance to fill their tanks before heading north.

Information can be found on Facebook through the “Boatin and Votin” page posted by Watson, and a rain date will be announced in the event of poor weather.

Carr got the idea to host a campaign-themed parade after spending time in Palm Beach, Fla.

“We’re not against anybody, a lot folks just think it is one-sided, one person running,” Carr said. “We have a lot of friends in Florida, in the Palm Beach area. Down there they run big rallies, 3,000 or 3,500 boats, so we were kind of inspired.”

Carr said that approximately 70 people have expressed an interest in attending the event on Facebook.

Over 100 boats took to the Niagara River for a similar event on July 19.
