Michael Burham
Jason Burham

Two area residents are facing charges following a verbal altercation that broke out Sunday evening during a rally near City Hall in Jamestown.

Officers observed the “disturbance” among a crowd in the area of East Second and Pine Streets around 11:30 p.m. About 100 people turned up downtown to protest the killing of Minneapolis resident George Floyd.

“Officers observed two males subjects engaged in a verbal fight with another subject while a large group was gathered at that location,” JPD said in news release.

Jason Burham, 32, of Ashville, and Michael C. Burham, 31, of Russell, Pa., were taken into custody on charges of disorderly conduct and fourth-degree criminal possession of a weapon as officers “observed both Burhams to possess and to display a folding knife during the altercation.”

The pair was released with tickets to appear in Jamestown City Court at a later date.
