Wanted Man Who Damaged City Park Charged

A Jamestown man wanted on a felony arrest warrant was taken into custody after police say he damaged a city park Wednesday morning.

Officers responded around 7 p.m. to Chadakoin Park, 1201 Washington St., where an unknown vehicle was reportedly found stuck in a wooded area behind the parking lot. As officers attempted to contact the driver, the man — later identified as 31-year-old Andrew L. Kiendle — fled on foot through the woods.

A K-9 unit with the New York State Police, along with the Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Office and Lakewood-Busti Police Department, assisted at the scene.

An investigation determined that Kiendle had a felony arrest warrant out of Jamestown City Court. The city man was tracked by the K-9 unit to a business located on Fluvanna Avenue “at the same time that officers were advised that the male had shown up to the business,” JPD said in a news release.

Officers from Lakewood-Busti tracked Kiendle through a wooded area north of Fluvanna Avenue where he was taken into custody. He is facing a charge of fourth-degree criminal mischief for the damage caused to the park, as well as the arrest warrant for aggravated criminal contempt, endangering the welfare of a child, second-degree criminal contempt, fourth-degree criminal mischief, second-degree burglary and third-degree assault.

Starting at $4.00/week.
