Three dogs were rescued from a home that caught fire Tuesday afternoon in Jamestown.

Flames were spotted coming from the rear of the 121 Cole Ave. property around 1:45 p.m. Fire and heavy smoke was reported by officers with the Jamestown Police Department who arrived on scene.

The road surrounding the area was closed to traffic, and off-duty firefighters were called to help battle the blaze.

Deputy Fire Chief Sam Salemme said three dogs were found inside the home; the animals were placed in the back of a Jamestown police patrol vehicle to stay warm and were later reunited with their owner.

It wasn’t known if anyone was home when the fire broke out, and no known injuries were reported.

One of the dogs rescued from the home is pictured in the back of a Jamestown police patrol vehicle.

Members of the American Red Cross responded to the scene and provided assistance.

The bulk of the fire was out about 20 minutes after crews arrived. Fire investigators were later called to the scene to determine a cause.

Starting at $3.50/week.
