City Man Remains Jailed After Robbery In Falconer
MAYVILLE — A city man remains in Chautauqua County Jail following the robbery of a Falconer convenience store last week.
Andrew J. Piatz, 40, is being held on $100,000 bail on charges of petit larceny and third-degree robbery, a class D felony. The Ellicott Police Department said Piatz on Dec. 9 demanded money and threatened a clerk at a West Main Street Kwik Fill that he had a gun.
The robbery took place around 6:30 a.m. The Jamestown resident left the store with an undisclosed amount of money, but was taken into custody a short time later following a search by officers from Ellicott, Jamestown, the Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Office and the New York State Police.
Although Piatz told the clerk he had a gun, no weapon was found. No one was injured in the incident.
Piatz was arraigned Dec. 9 at the jail. He is scheduled to appear for a preliminary hearing in Ellicott Town Court today at 4 p.m., a court clerk said.
