Hiring Of New Assistant Principal Approved

The Southwestern Central School Board approved the hiring of a new assistant principal after an anticipated vacancy.

Matthew Kindberg was approved Wednesday during a special meeting as the new K-12 assistant principal within the school district. Kindberg currently works in the Clymer Central School District as a teacher and has taught secondary social studies.

“He’s going to be excellent,” said Superintendent Maureen Donahue regarding the new hire.

Board members approved the resignation of assistant principal Brooke Adams at their Oct. 22 meeting. In the agenda it was noted that the board accepted the resignation “with sincere thanks and appreciation for two years and four months of dedicated service.” Adams’ resignation is effective Nov. 2 while Kindberg will officially begin Dec. 2. Because Adams notified the board of her impending resignation a month in advance, the board was able to post for a job opening ahead of time, allowing for Kindberg’s appointment in just over a week.

“I think he’s very bright,” said Donahue, who was involved in the interview process. “He’s a visionary and is going to bring a great, well-rounded experience to Southwestern.”
