New Warren Fire Chief Sworn Into Duty

WARREN, Pa. -- Following the raising of right hands and the promise to fulfill his duties with "diligence and fidelity," Rodney Wren officially became the new fire chief for the city of Warren Fire Department on Monday.
Magisterial District Judge Raymond Zydonik administered the oath in front of a room full of city officials, family, friends and fire department staff.
Wren said the new position will be "a learning process." "I'm looking forward to them (current firefighters) teaching me," he said.
He also sees this as a great opportunity to contribute what he has learned through his experience and education.
Wren has 20 years of service and experience in the fire service. He has both an A.S. and a B.S. in fire administration and fire science and expects to be awarded his master's in December of this year.
Wren is certified as a FF 1 and 2 and is a hazmat materials response technician, an advanced scuba diver and an EMT, according to City Manager Nancy Freenock.
Wren takes over for Sam Pascuzzi, who had served with the department for more than 30 years prior to his retirement earlier this year.
Wren formerly served as a Shift Deputy Chief for the City of Huntington, W.Va. He oversaw six fire stations with 30 firefighters per shift.
Wren said he was looking forward to joining a "great bunch of guys."
