Falconer Man Dies In 2-Car Ohio Crash On Interstate

By

SPRINGFIELD, Ohio — A Falconer man was killed in a two-car crash early Tuesday.

The Ohio State Highway Police said 20-year-old Matthew W. Eskeli IV died from injuries suffered in a crash on Interstate 70 in Clark County.

The collision took place around 2:30 a.m.

Patrol officers said Eskeli was eastbound near Springfield, Ohio, in a Ford Focus when he was struck by a 2008 BMW M3, being driven by 37-year-old Mark J. Terrell of South Charleston, Ohio.

The Ford reportedly went off the highway and hit an exit sign and light pole.

The vehicle rolled before landing on its left side, the state police said.

The BMW continued eastbound on the interstate before becoming disabled, police said. Alcohol is believed to be a factor in the crash.

Eskeli was taken by helicopter from the scene to Miami Valley Hospital where he later died.

A passenger in the Ford, 21-year-old Zach B. Cooper of Brockport, was transported to Springfield Regional Hospital before being airlifted to Miami Valley Hospital with “life-threatening injuries,” multiple media outlets reported.

Another passenger, 22-year-old Benjamin C. Cooper of Corning, was transported to the hospital for precautionary reasons.

Terrell was reportedly booked into jail, though no official charges were announced.
