Woman In Stolen Vehicle Charged With DWI After Crash

A woman in a stolen vehicle is facing drunken driving charges following a crash late Tuesday, the Jamestown Police Department said.

Officers were called to the area of 204 Allen St. around 11 p.m. for a reported crash in which the driver fled the scene.

Upon arrival, officers reported finding a Chevy sedan “smoking in the roadway.”

An investigation determined that the sedan had struck a parked vehicle in the road, causing heavy damage to both vehicles.The driver of the vehicle who caused the crash was identified as 44-year-old Tinesha L. Smith of Jamestown. Smith was found in a nearby residence on Allen Street and was found to be highly intoxicated.

The vehicle she was driving was found to be stolen from the west side of the city. Smith was taken into custody and transported to Jamestown City Jail.

She was charged with third-degree criminal possession of stolen property, aggravated driving while intoxicated with a blood alcohol content of .18 percent or higher, DWI, leaving the scene of a property damage accident and moving from lane unsafely. She was held for arraignment.
