Near Head-On Collision Results In Charges

COLD SPRING — A Cattaraugus County woman is facing a host of charges after a near head-on collision with a patrol vehicle.

The Cattaraugus County Sheriff’s Office took 50-year-old Lana K. Watt into custody after the incident Sunday shortly before 7 p.m. in the town of Cold Spring. According to a press release, Watt was in the oncoming lane of traffic on Route 394 when she reportedly almost struck a deputy’s vehicle head-on. The deputy was forced to leave the road to avoid the collision, the Sheriff’s Office said.

Watt allegedly became combative while being taken into custody and refused to provide identification. She was taken for processing where she also refused to submit to a breath test, the Sheriff’s Office said.

A check of Watt’s driving record found that her license was revoked for failure to comply with the state’s Drinking Driver Program.

Watt was charged with driving while intoxicated, first-degree aggravated unlicensed operation, failure to maintain lane, failure to keep right, resisting arrest and second-degree obstructing governmental administration. She was processed and released to a third party, the Sheriff’s Office said.

Starting at $3.50/week.
