‘Bundle-Them-Up’ Campaign Deemed Successful

The Salvation Army’s 2018 Bundle Them Up Campaign generated enough coats for everyone who visited the Salvation Army for winter coats.

Project Bundle-Them-Up took place Oct. 26 and provided winter wear to eligible children from southern Chautauqua County.

Project Bundle-Them-Up is made possible through community donations, including Rob Lind and the Greater Jamestown AM Rotary Club, the All for Amy Foundation, Chautauqua Region Community Foundation, Cummins Inc., Knitting for Peace, Allen Park Women’s Club, Gerri Youngberg, RSVP and all those who donated through the collection bins.

“This project would not have been successful without the collection bins hosted by; Anderson Cleaners’, Bethel Baptist Christian Academy, Falconer Central Schools, Jamestown Community College, Jamestown Public Schools, Maple Grove Central Schools, and Real Life Church,” said Elizabeth Lopez, Salvation Army emergency basic needs supervisor. “We also thank Anderson Cleaners’ for not just hosting a donation bin, but cleaning all of the used jackets donated.”

“We could not continue this project without the generous support we receive from the community,” said Crystal Friss, Salvation Army emergency basic needs coordinator. “The outpouring of love from the community reminds me of Hebrews chapter 6 where we are reminded that God not only sees this outpouring of love, but never forgets it.”

This year The Salvation Army has served 212 children by distributing winter coats, hats, gloves and scarves.

“Every year we struggle to meet the needs of the community; there just never seems to be enough donations” said Lt. Samantha Lockard, assistant corps officer.

“This year the community donated enough coats and funds to purchase coats that we did not run out of a single size.”
