Westfield Fire Dept. Releases August Stats

WESTFIELD — The Westfield Fire Department responded to 61 calls for service during the month of August. Of those calls, 51 were for emergency medical services, with 23 of those calls being within the village of Westfield and 15 of them within the town.

There were 13 EMS responses to Absolut Care.

There were nine fire calls in August. Five of those incidents were in the village. Those calls were for a grill fire near a garage at 20 Beckman Ave., a fire alarm activation at 27 Jefferson St., and two activations of the general fire alarm at the Welch building, located at 100 N. Portage St.

There were four fire calls in the town. Those calls were for an illegal burn, a general fire alarm, a smoke detector activation and a tractor-trailer fire on Interstate 90.

There was one motor vehicle crash in August that occurred at mile marker 479.9 on the westbound lanes of the New York state Thruway.

The 61 responses in August were an increase from the 57 responses in July. Since Jan. 1, the fire department has responded to 413 incidents.
