United Senior Council Holds Annual Trivia Contest

NORTH HARMONY -- In the month of May, senior citizens from throughout Chautauqua County convene in North Harmony to engage in some friendly competition

The United Senior Council of Chautauqua County's seventh annual three-round trivia contest was held Tuesday at the North Harmony Senior Citizen Center, where 13 teams attempted to suss out the answers to dozens of general knowledge questions ranging in topic from history to nature to science to general facts.

"We always put in some questions about Chautauqua County because we didn't have any in the first year, and they requested it," said Theresa Perrin, United Senior Council of Chautauqua County president. "There's always some questions about Chautauqua County, and we try to touch on sports, history and geography. We try to have some serious, hard questions, and we also try to have some easier, fun questions."

The teams are awarded points for every question answered correctly, and the results are tallied following the third round. This year's winners were The Chautauqua Boaters -- comprised of John and MaryAnne Johnston and Wendy Klinginsmith -- who took home $175 for their victory. The members

The emcee for the event was Dennis Webster, who administered the trivia questions and revealed their respective answers.

United Senior Council aims to create enough social activities for aging area residents. Held every year in May, Senior Trivia Day is a part of that initiative.
