Man Wanted In Buffalo Robberies Identified After Pursuit

Jordan Alexander

A 19-year-old Jamestown man reportedly wanted for multiple armed robberies in Buffalo was jailed after allegedly holding a woman at gunpoint during a pursuit involving several area police agencies late Friday.

Charged was Jordan W. Alexander with unlawful imprisonment, reckless endangerment and menacing after police attempted to stop the car he was a passenger in around 9:30 p.m. on Prather Avenue in Jamestown. Police had been working with the Buffalo Police Department to investigate a series of robberies in Buffalo when officers attempted to stop the car.

However, police said a female driver did not stop and was reported to be held at gunpoint during the ensuing pursuit. The chase went from Jamestown to Falconer and Interstate 86. The car returned to the city and was eventually stopped on Stowe Street, near Falconer Street, about an hour after the chase began, JPD said in a press release.

Alexander, initially identified Friday as a 20-year-old, was taken into custody without incident. He was booked into the Chautauqua County Jail Saturday, online records said.

Police did not specify the details surrounding Alexander’s connection to the Buffalo robberies. Detainer warrants for the city man were filed by Buffalo police.

The investigation into Friday night’s pursuit remains ongoing; no injuries were reported.

Additional charges are expected against Alexander, Jamestown police said.
