Health is central to the mission at UPMC Chautauqua WCA, which is why they’ve opened the MyHealth@Work Center to assist their employees with health care.

On Wednesday, a ribbon cutting ceremony was held to welcome the more than 1,000 full- and part-time employees to the new health care facility. The MyHealth@Work Center is located at the Occupational Health Building at Jones Memorial Health Center, located at 51 Glasgow Ave.

Dr. Todd Jacobson, UPMC Chautauqua WCA physician services director, said the hospital’s most valuable asset is their employees, which is why they opened the health clinic. He said hospital officials are investing in its work force because if the employees are in good health that means they are not home sick.

If the employees are not home sick, that means they are on site working at full capacity to keep the community healthy

“We want a healthy work force, that is the bottom line here,” he said.

Jacobson said the MyHealth@Work Center can provide medical treatment for mild and acute illnesses; help employees navigate through chronic health conditions like diabetes and asthma; provide health care coach referrals for assistance in tobacco cessation and weight loss; and give employees access to health and wellness services.

Betsy T. Wright, UPMC Chautauqua WCA president and chief executive officer, said hospital officials are really excited to open the new health care facility for its workers, which includes more than 900 full-time employees.

“We are really excited to offer this new benefit to our employees,” she said. “If we take care of ourselves, we can take care of others.”
