Police Seek Information Following Stabbing

Jamestown police are seeking information regarding a stabbing late Wednesday that sent one person to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Officers and EMS crews were notified of the stabbing at 125 Sampson St. around 8:15 p.m.

The name of the person stabbed was not released. However, police on Thursday said the incident was likely a targeted attack, similar to others that have occurred in the city this year.

On Nov. 28, 22-year-old Dylan E. Ownbey was stabbed following an argument with another man near Willard Street. Ownbey was rushed to UPMC Chautauqua WCA hospital but was pronounced dead.

Police are still investigating the homicide.

On Nov. 18, a man was robbed and shot in a home invasion on East Fifth Street. Two men were seen entering the victim’s apartment shortly before the shooting.

Two additional shootings, both in October, were also believed to be targeted acts of crime. In those shootings, both victims sustained non-life-threatening injuries.

The victim in Wednesday’s attack is reportedly not cooperating with police.

Anyone with information regarding recent crime is asked to contact Jamestown police at 483-7537 or leave an anonymous tip at 483-TIPS (8477). Information can also be sent to the department through the Tips 411 cellphone app. All calls and tips are kept confidential.
