BUSTI — A horse was killed after it was struck by a vehicle Monday evening in the town of Busti.

The crash occurred around 7:30 p.m. near the intersection of Kortwright and Big Tree roads. A Busti fire official said the horse was dead when crews arrived.

One person also reportedly sustained injuries in the crash, though the severity wasn’t known.

The fire official directed further questions regarding the crash to the Lakewood-Busti Police Department. Due to the weather, an officer couldn’t be reached for comment by press time Monday.

A Chautauqua County road crew was summoned to help move the animal from the road.
