KENNEDY — A favorite performer returned to the Kennedy Free Library on Halloween eve, and did not disappoint. Checkers brought his program to the library both to entertain and to teach kids some safety tips for Halloween.

From his entrance riding a unicycle and throughout his show, Checkers had his high energy level working. The audience was involved as he wove a storyline through the program, and volunteers got to help as he performed magic tricks to solve the mystery of the evening. Faces in the crowd were full of smiles as Checkers cast his spell. The combination of magical talents, storytelling and athletic stunts kept everyone tuned in to what he was doing.

Following the show, Checkers talked with his audience and gave out autographed cards to all who asked. A western New York native, Checkers said that he is always working on new ideas for his programs. He is especially interested in being able to have educational material in his programs, and emphasized that he spends a lot of time using libraries to learn new things.
