Jamestown received more sales tax revenue in the second quarter this year than they did in 2016.

On Monday, Joseph Bellitto, city comptroller, presented the second quarter sales tax revenue report to Jamestown City Council during their work session meeting. Bellitto said the city received $111,017, or 7.7 percent, more in the second quarter this year than they did last year. The city received a total of $1,540,401 in sales tax revenue during the second financial quarter.

Bellitto said they are doing better than last year with sales tax revenues. He said last year they fell short of budget by 2 percent, but are on a good pace this year to make budget. The 2017 adopted budget is $6 million, with the city receiving $2,908,658, or 48.48 percent, through the first two quarters this year. He added with a good third and fourth quarters, which are typically the best each year, the city will meet its projected sales tax revenue budget.

In other business, the Finance Committee discussed a resolution to increase the pay rate for court security offices and supervisors. The resolution, which will be voted on by council Monday, Aug. 28, proposes to increase the court security officers pay rate to $18.83 an hour and the court security supervisors to $30.85 an hour. Anthony Dolce, Ward 2 councilman, said the proposed pay increases for both positions is $2 an hour.

The pay adjustment is contingent upon full reimbursement to the city from the state Office of Court Administration.

Starting at $3.50/week.
