Olive Garden Treats The Jamestown Fire Department
Jamestown Fire Department firefighters were treated to a special ”thank you” lunch that included pasta, salad and breadsticks.
On Monday, the Lakewood Olive Garden Italian Restaurant, located at 328 E. Fairmount Ave., served lunch to the Jamestown Fire Department’s Labor Day crew. Lt. Phil Hanlon said this isn’t the first time the crew working Labor Day has been treated to an Olive Garden lunch.
”We are truly grateful. We’ve received this now for the third year in a row,” he said. ”It is a great gesture that they do this for us.”
Hanlon said such an extravagant lunchtime meal is not the norm for the crew of about a dozen firefighters.
”We’re definitely not use to this,” he said. ”It is great when people reach out to us in this way.”
Amber Lombardo, Olive Garden service manager, said it is an honor to provide the hardworking firefighters a free lunch. Lombardo was joined by Felicia Battle and Chandler Paddock, Olive Garden employees, who served the meal that included several different types of pasta, meatballs, Italian sausage, chicken and tomato and alfredo sauces. Olive Garden, of course, also provided breadsticks and salad.
”I think it is awesome,” Lombardo said about the opportunity to show how grateful Olive Garden is to the firefighters who serve their community. ”They serve us so we are happy to serve them. We just love to give back. We appreciate all they do.”
On Monday, more than 800 Olive Garden restaurants nationwide delivered and served their local first responders a special ”thank you” lunch. This is the 15th consecutive year that Olive Garden has coordinated this nationwide effort, with more than 10,000 meals served from 2002 to 2016.
