JCC Swears In New Student Trustee, Discusses Communication Program
The Jamestown Community College Board Of Trustees welcomed a fresh face to the table recently.
Skyler Gore, the new Jamestown Community College student trustee, was sworn in by Dale Robbins, board vice president.
Gore said he is starting his second year at the college and enjoys being active at JCC.
“I try to stay involved here on campus as much as I can,” he said. “I’m quite excited to be here, and this is pretty much my second home.”
He said he was glad for the opportunity to serve on the board and looked forward to working with them in the future.
Afterward, Dr. Kirk Young, enrollment management and institutional advancement vice president, gave a presentation on the CRM the college recently began using called “Recruit.”
CRM stands for “constituents relations management tool,” and brings information together in one place to help manage communications with audiences.
“This has really been a long process to get here,” Young said, adding it took approximately a year. “A CRM brings a level of efficiency, and it helps you manage your relationship with students.”
He showed the board a screen shot of what the sign-up page looks like, which asks for a variety of identifying items from the students or prospective students.
“I tell them it’s like filling out your Facebook profile,” Young said.
The benefit of having a profile on the CRM will allow students to see events tailored to their expressed interests on their profile page, he said.
The information garnered by the software will then be put into a dashboard which keeps a variety of information in one place, letting the college know how many people have applied and other statistics.
Overall, Young said the tool will allow the school to focus on and recruit new students in a better and more efficient way.
