Paul Zittle & Pure Country To Perform
CHERRY CREEK – The 2015 Cherry Creek Summer Gazebo Concert Series continues Thursday evening with music by Paul Zittle and Pure Country.
The concert will begin at 6:30 p.m. and will be held in the Memorial Park on Main Street, behind the town hall. The concert will be held rain or shine. In case of inclement weather, the concert will be in the pavilion of the ballpark on Main Street.
Supper-type refreshments will be available, and those planning to attend are reminded to bring their own lawn chairs for seating.
Well-known locally, Paul Zittle and Pure Country play a wide variety of country tunes from ages past, up to those popular today. Very personable and relaxed, the group interacts well with their audiences and involve them into the concert experience.
A special feature of the program this summer is the inclusion of a featured musical selection for the evening which corresponds to a historical event in Cherry Creek’s history, as the hometown celebrates its 200th birthday this year.
“Last week, we learned the history of the building of the Kinzua Dam, and how it affected not only the Native Americans in the area, but others as well, as town of Cherry Creek Trustee Pete Smallback related how his family lost their land due to flooding. Town Historian Sharon Howe portrayed a household servant of George Washington,” said Brenda Hendricks of the Cherry Creek Community Association Inc. “The presentation was very fun and informative, and the music was great.”
This week’s presentation will focus on the Civil War period, with Leroy Paine portraying Abraham Lincoln and the Gettysburg Address delivered by Sharon Howe. The featured selection of the evening will be “Dixie,” played by Paul Zittel and Pure Country.
The 2015 Cherry Creek Summer Gazebo Concert Series is sponsored by the Cherry Creek Community Association Inc., and funded in part by the New York State Council On The Arts Decentralization Regrant Program with support from Gov. Andrew Cuomo and the New York State Legislature, and administered by the Cattaraugus County Arts Council. This program is also supported by Chautauqua Brick, other area businesses, the town and village of Cherry Creek, and community members.
