A dispute between neighbors led to child endangerment charges against a pair of city residents last week.

At about 3:40 p.m. Thursday, Jamestown Police Department officers responded to a residence on the East side of the city for a harassment complaint. It was determined that Robert J. Overton Jr., 56, had made threats to his neighbor. Overton initially refused to exit the residence, but was eventually taken into custody after a brief struggle.

Through an investigation, it was discovered that Overton’s home was in deplorable conditions. It was additionally discovered that Alana M. Overton, 35, also resided in the home along with three children.

Alana Overton was then taken into custody without incident and charged with three counts of endangering the welfare of child. Robert Overton was charged with second-degree harassment, resisting arrest, and three counts of endangering the welfare of a child.

Both were held in the city jail pending arraignment.
