A Jamestown man faces three felony charges after an incident Sunday that included stealing a woman’s car and attacking police officers after they had taken him to the city jail.
Brandley D. Churchill, 36, of Jamestown was charged with first-degree felony criminal contempt, fourth-degree felony grand larceny, second-degree felony assault, second-degree criminal contempt, third-degree unauthorized use of a motor vehicle, two counts of fourth-degree criminal mischief and resisting arrest at 10:12 a.m. Sunday after officers responded to a north side home for a reported domestic incident. A woman told officers that Churchill, against whom the woman had a valid stay-away order of protection, had taken her vehicle without her permission before being involved in an accident. Churchill left the scene, according to a police report, but was found a short distance away from the original scene.
Police report a struggle took place between officers and Churchill when officers tried to arrest Churchill. He was eventually taken to the city jail, where Churchill allegedly damaged property belonging to the facility and also allegedly physically attacked officers, resulting in one officer being injured. Churchill was kept in the city jail until he could be arraigned.
