City Woman Charged After Child Found Wandering Near Road

A Jamestown woman has been charged with endangering the welfare of a child after a 3-year-old was found Wednesday walking unsupervised near a busy road.

Jamestown police officers responded to the south side of Jamestown after being alerted by neighborhood residents and began looking for the child’s parent or guardian. The child allegedly left the home without child’s mother knowing Tayshia M. Berg, 24, of Jamestown, and had been outside between 20 and 40 minutes. Police say Berg didn’t contact police or notify officers while they were canvassing the area.

The child was reunited with family members and, according to police, arrangements were made to ensure the child’s care. Berg was charged and taken to the city jail until she could be arraigned. Child Protective Services was notified.

Starting at $3.50/week.
