Police Investigating Thursday Shooting At Crescent, Buffalo Streets
Jamestown police officers are investigating a shooting Thursday that caused a lockdown at two city schools.
According to a police report, at 1:24 p.m. officers responded to Crescent and Buffalo streets for a report of shots fired and found that a person forced their way into an occupied residence armed with a shotgun. During the incident the person fled the home, firing the shotgun and hitting the side of the home before fleeing the scene.
There were no injuries, and police say the shooting was the result of a targeted attack on the people in the home.
At this time the investigation is on going and anyone with information is asked to call the Jamestown Police Department TIP Line at 716-483-TIPS (8477) or the Jamestown Police Department command line at 716-483-7536.
The shooting was the reason behind a lockdown of Ring Elementary and Washington Middle schools on Thursday.
Jamestown Public Schools parents were notified that an incident caused both schools to be placed into lockdown, though there was no threat to student safety within the schools, according to the district. There was no disruption to school dismissal for either building.
