A truck belonging to a missing Lakewood man has been found in Chautauqua Lake near the Veterans Memorial Bridge.

Lakewood-Busti Police Chief Matthew Bentley said that the Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Department dive team located the vehicle around 9 a.m. Monday, but weather made it impossible Tuesday to open the door and inspect the inside of the vehicle.

“The water is so murky,” Bentley said.

Bentley added that dive team members found the vehicle in shallow water between pillars 3 and 4, near the bridge.

Over the weekend, Lakewood-Busti police asked residents who have home or business surveillance cameras facing the lake to review footage for Tuesday, March 3, between 12:30 and 6 a.m. Investigators are asking the public to look for any video showing a vehicle driving on the ice of Chautauqua Lake during that time period.

Bentley said Daniel Scott Emerson had disappeared around 12:30 a.m. March 3 and the missing persons report was filed March 5 at 11:45 a.m.
