FALCONER – After months of rehearsals and tireless practice, the students at Falconer Central School are finally ready to show off Shrek the Musical this weekend.

The musical will be running on today and Saturday at 7:30 p.m., with one last showing on Sunday, March 15, at 2:30 p.m. The show will be located at Falconer Central School, and will give residents the opportunity to see the newly renovated auditorium for the first time. Superintendent Stephen Penhollow stated that these renovations included new lighting, new curtains, a sound system, a complete paint, all new seats, and a new floor throughout the space. Additionally, the sound booth was moved to the first floor and the stage itself was completely redone. Penhollow stated that the previous floor was similar to what one would find in a gym, that being two-inch maple slabs. The stage has now been replaced with a theatrical floor, which Penhollow noted will be better for performances and sets. With a new space like this, the students will be able to put on a performance with a level of professionalism that has never before been possible at the school.

The production, spreading an important message about beauty, would not be possible without the dedication of the many students that contributed so much. Kade Smith will be playing the role of Shrek, with Khloe Livengood serving as his trusty ogre wife. Jaxson VanArsdale will be taking over the fan-favorite character of donkey, while the evil Lord Farquaad will be played by Andrew Johnson. Other crucial cast members include but are not limited to Emma Lundsten as the Sugar Plum Fairy and Gingy, Maddie Widen as Pinocchio, and Ella Grace Garrison as the dragon.

Starting at $3.50/week.
