Corrections Officer Accused Of Selling Drugs To An Inmate

MAYVILLE – A Brocton resident who is a corrections officer is facing charges for allegedly selling drugs to inmates.

In October of 2025, the Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigation Division was requested by the Chautauqua County Jail Administration to investigate suspicious activity of an employee at the Chautauqua County Jail.

Through investigation, a suspect was identified as 27-year-old Dylan F. Gross. It is alleged that while employed as a corrections officer with the Chautauqua County Jail, Gross sold a controlled substance to an incarcerated individual.

Subsequently, Gross was charged with fifth-degree criminal sale of a controlled substance, second-degree promoting prison contraband and Official Misconduct.

On Friday, Gross turned himself in to the Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Office and was arraigned through the Centralized Arraignment Process at the county jail.

The news release from the Sheriff’s Office did not say if Gross is still employed or being paid as a corrections officer.

He is scheduled to appear in the Town of Chautauqua Court at a later date.
