City Man Charged After Domestic Altercation

A 26-year-old Jamestown man is facing a number of charges after a domestic altercation on Friday evening.
Jamestown Police report Nicholas R. Barrett was charged with third-degree assault, two counts of fourth-degree criminal mischief, second-degree unlawful imprisonment and two counts of endangering the welfare of a child.
Officers responded to a residence on the south side of the city around 7:45 p.m. An investigation determined that Barrett engaged in a physical altercation with the victim in the presence of two young children, resulting in the victim sustaining multiple physical injuries. During the incident, Barrett prevented the victim from calling 911 by taking the victim’s cellular phone and smashing it on the floor, and also prevented the victim from leaving the residence by physically pushing the victim back when the victim attempted to exit.
Barrett was taken into custody on scene and transported to the Jamestown City Jail where he was held pending arraignment. On Saturday, he was arraigned in Jamestown City Court and released.
