A potential catastrophe was narrowly avoided Wednesday morning, as a cargo train collided a tractor trailer in Dunkirk. A State Trooper at the scene stated no substantial injuries were sustained during the crash. A train struck the vehicle at the intersection of Chadwick Drive and Progress Drive after 7:30 a.m., Wednesday. The tractor trailer appeared to be pushed roughly 200 yards from the railroad crossing, where it came to a rest off the side of the road alongside the tracks. The site is across from Stericycle and Dunkirk Metal Products, just beyond Purina.
